Toddler Crafts: Bunnies

One last Easter craft....I promise! 

This idea is from Allie at No Time for Flashcards.  She used marshmellows to paint, which would have been awesome, but we didn't have any on hand.  We used cotton balls instead and they worked great.

Little Man even got in on the action!  He wasn't a big fan of the cotton balls!

And since we were using cotton balls, Sweet Girl instead ours needed cotton ball tails!

DIY Easter Cards

We are really into our watercolor paints right now so we decided to use our paints to make our Easter cards this year.  They were really easy to make and turned out pretty cute.

Supplies needed:
Watercolor paint and paint brushes

Watercolor paper

Painters tape

Cardboard

Start by cutting out an egg shape from your cardboard.  Then tape down your watercolor paper to your table (to keep it from sliding while painting) and then position either the egg or egg cut out on your paper and tape down with painters tape.

Then paint away.

After your paintings have dried, glue them onto folded cardstock to create simple Easter cards.

Toddler Craft: Easter Egg Wreath

This is a simple and easy Easter craft.

Supplies needed:

Construction paper

Scissors

Glue

First, cut out some eggs and a large circle from your construction paper.

Then add some glue around your circle and let your kiddo glue on the eggs.

Have them overlap the eggs as they go around so your wreath is nice and full!

Add a second layer of glue onto of the first layer of eggs and then glue on a second layer.

Hang and enjoy!!

Easter Egg Bird Feeders

We are big fans of homemade bird feeders at our house!  For Easter we decided to make a few to hang out for all those little birdies.  You can make one too!  Here's how...

Supplies needed:

Plastic eggs

Shortening, peanut butter or icing

Bird seed

String

Start by threading your string through the hole in your plastic egg.  Tie a knot at one end to keep the string from coming through the hole.  Then tie a know at the other end.  Pull all the string into the egg so you can add the shortening/peanut butter without it coating the string.

Coat your plastic egg in your shortening, peanut butter or icing.

Then roll your egg in the bird seed.

Once your egg is fully coated, pull out the string and head outside!

Even handsome hubbies liked this craft!

Toddler Art: Painting with Easter Eggs

Sweet Girl went with me today to get some plastic eggs for our neighborhood Easter egg hunt this weekend... and as soon as we got home she said she wanted to paint with them.  Hummm...I thought!  How would we do that??

Then I remembered that the plastic eggs all have those little holes on either one or both side, so I thought maybe we could put paint inside them and then paint.

Sweet Girl picked out her eggs and paint colors and we got started right away!

Supplies needed:
Plastic eggs (with holes on at least one side)

Paint

Small cups

Paper

A box of some sort

Start by lining your box with your paper.  Then add some of your paint to a cup and thin it out a little with a few drops of water.  Next, pour your paint into your eggs.  Be sure to do this over your box because some of the paint will likely leak out through the holes.

Have your little one shake away and paint all over the paper.

It started out really pretty with all the different blobs and splatters of paint.

Then she decided that she wanted to paint WITH the eggs by shaking them around in the box.

Which got a little messier, but was a lot more fun for her!!

Here's what the splatters look like (you know, before you smear everything together with the eggs).

And be sure to let your little one clean up after themselves.  This was probably Sweet Girl's favorite part.  I'm pretty sure this is the only reason she kept asking to do it again and again!!

I am so excited to share our Easter cards for this year.

Aren't the flowers just precious?

I originally saw the idea for Easter thumbprint art over at one of my absolute favorite sites for adorable kid crafts, Sweet and Lovely Crafts.  Sweet Girl is hit or miss when it comes to handprint/fingerprint art, but I actually got her to sit and make these with me one afternoon!

For the chicks on the left I used Sweet Girl AND Little Man's thumb!!!  Too cute!

And here's a peek at the inside!!

This is our Easter card from last year.  It was A LOT of work, but I think it turned out pretty cute.  The inside said "You crack me up!" and had a little picture of Sweet Girl attached!

Momma Made...Easter Egg Matching/Memory Game

We are having a different kind of week this week since we are traveling and visiting family.  I know we will have a BLAST, but I doubt I will be able to keep up with the daily posts.  Instead.....I thought I would share with you all the little gifts I've made for Sweet Girl and Little Man for Easter this year.  I have had SOOOO much fun making all these sweet gifts and I just know Sweet Girl will love them (and Little Man too once he's a tad bit older!!)

First up....

Egg matching and memory game

This is pretty much identical to the cupcake matching and memory game I made for Sweet Girl earlier this year.  I had some extra felt egg stickers left over after I made all our Easter trays and stuff, so I decided to whip up an Easter egg game!  I think they turned out soooo cute!!  And they are soooo easy to make!  Click here for the simple tutorial.

We love playing with our cupcake squares so I know these will definitely be a hit!!

Tot Trays - Traveling Style

Sweet Girl, Little Man and myself are traveling to see my family this week so I decided to make our tot trays "travel-able" (not a word, I know, but it works!!)  I laid every thing out on the trays for the purpose of the pictures, but then I placed everything in a bag to take with us (and I'm not taking all the bowls, baskets....just the goodies).  It all fits nicely in one gallon size bag.

I cut and laminated our number sheet to make it easier to transport.  Then I used a ring book binder to keep them together.  I love the way each number is on a card by itself.  I think it makes it a little easier to see the number and the corresponding squares rather than having them all on one page.

Easter Sensory Bin

I wasn't going to make a sensory bin this month, but I had some extra Easter stuff left over after I made our trays so I decided to throw one together.  Sweet Girl really liked this bin and has had fun playing with it for the last several days.

I kept it pretty simple this month since sometimes the larger, more packed sensory bins are a little overwhelming for her.  Her favorite thing to do, really, is to just scoop the pasta into a bowl.

Here's what I threw in our bin:

Tot Trays - Easter

I had so much fun putting together our Easter themed trays!!  I know Sweet Girl will enjoy using them too!  She's asked me all weekend for our new "plates" as she calls them!!  Everything pictured below is either from the dollar store or Michaels craft store.

This is actually supposed to be a tic-tac-toe game, but I am planning on using it as a patterning activity.  I will put the chicks and bunnies in the first row and then will have Sweet Girl try to copy it for the last two rows.  My gut tells me we will do this one once and then she will carry around the chicks and bunnies for the rest of the day!
