Fruit Counter Cards - Printable

I received several requests asking for copies of the fruit pattern cards we use for our tot trays.  (Can be found on our tot trays here and here).

These are just pattern strips that I created by photographing our fruit counters in different patterns.  I printed mine on 5x7 photo paper and then cut them into strips, but you could easily print on any type of paper.

We use these fruit counters from Lakeshore Learning, but you could easily print off two sets and cut up one set to use as your pattern pieces.

There are five different pattern strips.  I think they are all together on one file, but if not, please let me know.  I'll try to correct it if I can!!!  And as always, please use my printables for personal use only!  Thanks!

Tot Trays - Beach Part II (Traveling Style)

We are leaving tomorrow for Florida!!  Yay!!  When we went to visit my family a few weeks ago, I packed up some of our tray materials and took them with us!  They were perfect for a little learning fun!!

So...this week, I'm packing up these fun items to take with us!  They are all beach themed and are so perfect for our trip!!  (And....fyi...the things are only on the trays for picture purposes...I'm only taking "the goods").

Ocean flashcards

I picked these up in the dollar section of Target last year.  They are actual pictures of undersea creatures.  And they have facts about each creature on the back.  We'll look through these together and talk about all the different ocean animals!!  They are perfect for language development!!

Fish counting

I cut out three little fishbowls and labeled them with numbers and corresponding x's on both sides.  We'll use this for a simple counting activity.  I also packed some extra paper so Sweet Girl can play with the stickers as well.

Beach stamp matching

I found these super cute little beach stamps at the dollar store.  Stamping is always fun!!

Beach sticker activity book

This is just a little book that has several pages of beach related stickers, as well as a beach scene.  The stickers are great because they are removable, so we can do this several times.  We'll probably play with this one on the ride down so we can talk about all the fun things we plan to do while we are at the beach!!

I only made numbers 1-6 since we typically work on either 1-3 or 1-5.  I'm happy to make numbers 7-10 if anyone is interested!!

Ladybug Counting (Printable)

Thought some of you might like to have these cute ladybug counting cards.  We are using these to work on number recognition and counting. 



This is how we have been using them so far!

Here, I just laid the cards out in numerical order and have Sweet Girl walk or jump on them in ascending order (1-10) and then descending order (10-1).

I also sometimes lay out just a few numbers and call out a number for her to jump on.

In this picture, Sweet Girl is counting the dots on the ladybug.

And my thought was that we could eventually get to where she put the numbers in order but she surprised me was able to do it all by herself!  Look at that concentration!!  The numbers were getting all mixed up as she was jumping on them so she stopped and put them back in order!!  I was shocked!

Tot Trays - Princess Theme

I'M BACK!!  I'M BACK!!!

It feels like forever since I've blogged and boy have I missed you guys!!  Sweet Girl, Little Man and I had a fabulous time visiting all our family and friends!!  Sweet Girl just loved the beach and we can't wait to go back in a few weeks!!

Okay, okay....on to our trays for this week!  I had so much fun putting these together and it feels so nice to get back into some sort of routine!!  Since there is so much talk of princesses and royalty and stuff lately, I decided to go with a princess theme for this week's trays!!

Matching princesses

For this tray, I used our princess figurines and printed out matching picture cards.  I also made an extra copy of the princess cards for Sweet Girl to match as well!  Sweet Girl loves all the princesses!!  (And on a side note.....if anyone wants to print out your own princess cards just leave a comment or email me and I can send the page to you!!)

Carissa over at 1+1+1=1 put together a fabulous princess pack.  This is the patterning activity.  We are working on simple ABAB patterning.

For this one, I'll have Sweet Girl count out the boxes on the pink sheet and then add a rhinestone sticker to the box/boxes.

Preschool Corner

ABC Fun - Letter I

I thought letter I would be difficult to organize, but I actually had a lot of fun finding and creating activities for this letter!!  I decided to stick with the Montessori letter I sound, as in "igloo".

Alphabet Sensory Bin

Here's our sensory bin for letter I.  In our bin there are lots of letter I's, an igloo and pictures of an indian, an igoo, instruments and an iguana.  I ended up printing off a few images since I'm still on the hunt for some good letter I objects!  As with all our alphabet bins, I like to introduce the letter and talk about the sound the letter makes.

Not that Sweet Girl knows what an intersection is, but it starts with the letter I sound so we're going with it!!!  Regardless, I think she will enjoy driving our cars on our letter I's.

Let's Play a Game! (Printable included)

Sweet Girl is just starting to understand the concept of games (rules and turn taking and the such) so I created a little game for us to play.  It's really simple, but lots of fun and I'd thought I'd share with you all.

Here are all the game pieces!!

Basically, Sweet Girl and I take turn rolling the dice to see what color we get.  Then, we get to pick out our teddy bear and place it on the mat.  We have these teddy bear counters so we use the big and little ones to correspond with our circles.  Oh...and I made our dice using colored stickers and a blank dice (I found mine at the dollar store, but you can get them here for $0.25+shipping. 

The one who fills in the last circle wins!! 

I love that the game touches on so many different skill areas....turn taking, attention/concentration, color recognition, matching, big vs. little.

Just click here to print out your own mats.  I recommend cutting out and laminating your mats for durability.  And if you don't have colored counters....just print out two copies of the mats, cut out all the circles of one set of mats and use those as your "game pieces".
