Ladybug Counting (Printable)

Thought some of you might like to have these cute ladybug counting cards.  We are using these to work on number recognition and counting.

This is how we have been using them so far!

Here, I just laid the cards out in numerical order and have Sweet Girl walk or jump on them in ascending order (1-10) and then descending order (10-1).

I also sometimes lay out just a few numbers and call out a number for her to jump on.

In this picture, Sweet Girl is counting the dots on the ladybug.

And my thought was that we could eventually get to where she put the numbers in order but she surprised me was able to do it all by herself!  Look at that concentration!!  The numbers were getting all mixed up as she was jumping on them so she stopped and put them back in order!!  I was shocked!

If you want to join in the counting fun, just click here to download the file.  Enjoy and happy counting!!

ABC Fun - Letter J

We started back on our alphabet journey today with letter J!

Alphabet Sensory Bin
Here is our letter J alphabet sensory bin for this week.  We have a bunch of fun letter J objects in our bin....capital and lowercase J/j's, a jack, a jack-in-the-box, a jug and two jaguars.

Sweet Girl loves taking out all of the objects from our bin.  I use this time to talk about the letter and it's sound.

Jumping over and on "J"
We took advantage of the beautiful day and took our letter J learning outside!!  Sweet Girl and I "jumped" over and on the J's.  While playing, I talked about prepositions, such as over, on, before, after.

Jaguar puzzles
I printed out some images of jaguars and cut them into simple puzzles for us to do together.  Sweet Girl is fascinated with puzzles right now and is actually pretty good at putting together the ones we have.

Carisa over at 1+1+1=1 just published the letter J printables so I decided to print those off and letter Sweet Girl play around with them!  She LOVED them!!  In this picture she is using the Do-A-Dot Markers to dot all of the letter J/j's on the jellyfish!!

Check back on Friday to see our letter J crafts!!

Momma Made...DIY Chalkboard

My hubby and I made Sweet Girl a chalkboard for her birthday and it turned out fabulous!  I originally saw the idea for a gigantic chalkboard over at Chasing Cheerios, but we wanted one that was a little smaller.  It was so simple to make and it's been so fun having it outside now that the weather is a little warmer!

All you need is a piece of wood and some chalkboard paint!

We got our wood from Home Depot.  They marked it down to half-price because it had a few "dings" on one side so it cost us $10.

We used painter's tape to tape of the edge so we could add a colored trim.

And here's the finished product!  We love it!!

Tot Trays - Princess Theme

I'M BACK!!  I'M BACK!!!

It feels like forever since I've blogged and boy have I missed you guys!!  Sweet Girl, Little Man and I had a fabulous time visiting all our family and friends!!  Sweet Girl just loved the beach and we can't wait to go back in a few weeks!!

Okay, okay....on to our trays for this week!  I had so much fun putting these together and it feels so nice to get back into some sort of routine!!  Since there is so much talk of princesses and royalty and stuff lately, I decided to go with a princess theme for this week's trays!!

Matching princesses
For this tray, I used our princess figurines and printed out matching picture cards.  I also made an extra copy of the princess cards for Sweet Girl to match as well!  Sweet Girl loves all the princesses!!  (And on a side note.....if anyone wants to print out your own princess cards just leave a comment or email me and I can send the page to you!!)
UPDATED.....I had lots of requests for the princess cards so I decided to upload them!!  Click here for your own copy!

Big and small diamond sorting

Princess color puzzles
Puzzles are all the rage at our house right now so I thought this would be fun!  I found these adorable puzzles at Little Piles Everywhere.

Spooning hearts

Princess patterning
Carissa over at 1+1+1=1 put together a fabulous princess pack.  This is the patterning activity.  We are working on simple ABAB patterning.

Jewel counting
For this one, I'll have Sweet Girl count out the boxes on the pink sheet and then add a rhinestone sticker to the box/boxes.

What do you have planned for this week??

Happy Easter!!!

HAPPY EASTER!!!

I am so excited to share our Easter cards for this year.
Aren't the flowers just precious?

I originally saw the idea for Easter thumbprint art over at one of my absolute favorite sites for adorable kid crafts, Sweet and Lovely Crafts.  Sweet Girl is hit or miss when it comes to handprint/fingerprint art, but I actually got her to sit and make these with me one afternoon!

For the chicks on the left I used Sweet Girl AND Little Man's thumb!!!  Too cute!

And here's a peek at the inside!!

Love my bunnies!!!

This is our Easter card from last year.  It was A LOT of work, but I think it turned out pretty cute.  The inside said "You crack me up!" and had a little picture of Sweet Girl attached!

Happy Easter!!

Momma Made....Block puzzles

Sweet Girl is really into puzzles right now and when I stumbled across these block puzzles over at Not So Idle Hands I couldn't wait to make them for my kiddos for Easter!  I used six different pictures to cover all sides of the blocks.  It was a little time consuming since I had to be so precise about cutting, but I think they turned out great!!

I printed my pictures on cardstock, cut them out and then Modge Podged them onto each individual block.

And some of the blocks can even be stacked vertically to make sweet little pictures!!

Be sure to check out the great tutorial over at Not So Idle Hands!

Momma Made....Rainbow Peg People

I originally saw these at an Etsy site but couldn't bring myself to pay $30 for them!!  Instead...I decided to make my own!  They were super easy to make and painting them was very relaxing!  And...they cost me about $7!!  Can't beat that!

As you can see, I added pink to our rainbow.  I knew Sweet Girl would ask where the pink was if I didn't add that one too!!
