Alphabet Learning Fun

This is a fun activity I have planned for this week.  It's another one of my fabulous finds on Pinterest (addicted!!).  Sweet Girl loves playing with these alphabet puzzles in our busy boxes so I know she will enjoy this too.

I mixed up all of the alphabet letters in the alphabet pasta from our sensory bins.

I added numbers 1-4 because....well...because I'm anal like that!!  I just couldn't leave it "unfinished" looking!!

  2. I love this too! I have the alphabet set as well and I love how you made a sensory box for every letter. What a terrific idea.

  4. Where did you find that alphabet pasta?! I have a giant sensory table in my kindergarten classroom and put my foam letters down in a bunch of colored pom poms...for the noise reduction. ;) Then they scoop a letter out using a sand shovel and name it, say the sound, say a word that starts with that letter, etc. Just in case you need some more ideas for when your kids get older! :)

  6. I LOVE THIS!!! How do you get such bold colors on your pasta?

  7. @Carmen...I usually just let my pasta sit in the alcohol for a while until I like the color. It gets a little darker as it dries. I used the neon food coloring pack for the pasta above and I think it makes colors a little brighter! Good luck!

  8. Ok, I'm new at these sensory boxes, so I love all these ideas. But could you direct me to more specific directions on how to stain the pasta?

  9. @Darci...Add your dry pasta to a few ziploc bags. Add about 2-3 tbsp rubbing alcohol and a few drops of your food coloring (depending on what shade you are hoping for). Let it pasta and alcohol/color sit for about an hour or so and then dump onto paper towel lined baking sheet to fully dry. It doesn't take long to dry out (because of the rubbing alcohol). Good luck!
